Looking Blur & Sleepy....

2 years ago, a little girl called Celest was born and she is now celebrating her 2nd birthday today. We decided to have a small party for her at her childcare centre. When I first opened my eyes and looked out to the sky, the weather was overcast and gloomy. Is this a bad sign? Well, we prepared Celest for her childcare session as usual and sent her to the centre together.
Miss Chng was standing at the entrance and wished Celest "Happy Birthday"! 'm not sure whether Celest knew the meaning of "Happy Birthday". Guess we got to wait till she see the cake before she knows what is happening later.
Daddy and me went for breakfast before heading home for a rest. I was pretty excited. The plan was to go to Hougang for my lunch. I was also going to pick up the other small cake that is meant for tonight's dinner celebration with family members.

We were both sleeping when my handphone rang. It was Miss Chng on the other line and I was kind of weary. It was not good to receive phone calls from the childcare centre at that time. Miss Chng told me that Celest was running a fever at 38.6 and asked me to bring down her fever medicine as the centre had ran out of medication. I was like hmm in shock?
It was just after lunch and it was going to be their nap time soon. The teacher said that they just discovered her fever as they were preparing her for bed. All my plans went down the drain and I went to the centre right away while daddy had to pick up the cake insetad. I was like 'Of all day, why must it be on her birthday?'
Celest was asleep when I reached the centre. The teacher woke her up and I fed her the medicine. They told me that as part of their fever management, they bathed Celest again. Celest was still hot to the touch. I was in a dilemma over whether to continue the party as the cake had already been sent to the school. One teacher suggested to keep the cake for next day while I ponder over that. I felt it was abit 'stupid' to do it the next day as her birthday would have been over and nobody celebrate a belated birthday. Moreover, Celest may not be going to school for the next few days due to the fever. It was just slightly over one hour before the teatime and I decided to go ahead with the cake cutting.

Once Celest was roused from her nap, she was quite awake and didn't really sleep. Not to mention when she saw me around, she wouldn't let go of me. I told her to go to bed so that she can get better and cut the cake. She heard the word 'cake' & said 'Cake, Eat, Yum yum.' The teachers were laughing when they heard that. Haha.
Just at this moment, Celest poo and the teachers brought her away to change her diaper. I took the chance to leave so that I could take my lunch. I tried out the muslim cafe's hor fun and it was quite nice. Close to the teatime, I returned to the centre and Miss Chng told me that Celest just slept not long ago.
We set up the place and woke Celest up when everything was done. The teachers asked me if I am going to change Celest to her birthday suit. I was like har? I didn't even thought of that. Haha. Will keep it in mind for her 3rd birthday! It was a mistake to wake Celest late. She was still in a daze when we sang the birthday song and she was in no mood to pose for pictures when told. It was only almost after the whole party when she was back to her old chirpy self again and her fever was almost gone. We left for home after the birthday celebration.
We had our dinner at Quality Hotel, along Balestier Road, which is a Taiwanese porridge buffet. Well, things weren't exactly smooth and there was slight uneasiness. The cake wasn't brought to the hotel also. Daddy suggested to have the cake for dessert when we go back for dinner at my in-law's place tomorrow.
After dinner, I brought Celest to see my GP at Bedok. The doctor said that the fever was due to an infection in her lungs, most probably phlegm that was there for a long time. Initially, daddy wanted to bring Celest to see the doctor on Wed as he felt that it was inauspicious to see a doctor on one's birthday but well, think we can't wait now.

Zoo Trip With Perle's Family

The usual cow photo

It was very hot!

Today is Vesak Day and we decided to go to the zoo since daddy managed to secure his corporate passes for us to go in for free. We reached there at around 10am+ which was abit late already. The carpark was crowded and we had to park our cars quite a distance away.
This is Celest's 4th trip to the zoo if I recall correctly. Actually, I was abit 'bored' with the place but oh well, for the purpose of educating Celest with the animals, got to bear with it. There were some changes and other renovations on-going. The animals world was under renovated and new attractions were being built. We can now only wait to see what's new in store and hope it will be nice.
As usual, we had our lunch at KFC which was very crowded. We waited for a while before we managed to find ourselves a seat. Celest was helping herself with the whipped potato which was a slow and messy process. I just can't figure out where and why she develop this bad eating habit.
There was a group of girls waiting for our table and we were under "pressure" to get Celest to finish asap. I was abit angry, at the same time bad, for "rushing" Celest to finish her food. She, understandably, threw a tanthrum and created a scene while leaving KFC without finishing her potato.

We continued our walk towards the 'exit'. By this time, I was perspiring with lots of sweats. In my mind, I could only think of how to get to the car and switch on the aircon asap. We left the park earlier and seek the comfort of the car aircon. Celest fell asleep very soon with the aircon blowing at her.

Changi Beach Club Pics

Changi Beach Club

Today, we went to CBC to have fun and this is also the first time that I brought Celest to a beach environment. I met up with Naomi at Raffles Place to hitch a ride from her and I was pretty excited about the day's outing. Lyn, Dal, Pauline will be meeting us there.

The place is very beautiful and quiet. It is near to the place where we had our chalet outing with Ester. Celest and Shannon held hands when they were walking together. It was a very rare sight as Celest usually don't like to hold hands.

We went straight to the sandy beach side and start our preparations, such as applying sun block lotion etc. Haha. Luckily, Pauline brought the sunblock lotion as I didn't bring any along. Naomi's girl, Shannon, was relaxed and enjoyed herself with the sands. Celest and Kelly were the 'dainty' ones.

Celest couldn't even move in the sand and needed me to carry her. She would remain rooted at one spot and shouted for me. It took a while before the two girls got used to the environment. Lyn and Dal soon came and joined us at the beach. Celest was afraid of sitting down on the wet sands and squatted instead during her play. This mummy can't stand seeing her tiring legs that I found an 'opportunity' to push her to sit on the sand. Since then, she remained seated. Haha. Think I really need to bring her out to these kind of sandy places more often.

Our next stop was the swimming pool. As usual, It took me some time to coax Celest into play and to get her out of the play. I had to 'pluck' her away from the beach and emphasising to her that we are going to the swimming pool before she 'guai guai' followed me. Mummy didn't have any maternity swimwear so I wasn't really able to be by her side always.

I am very grateful to Pauline and Naomi for helping me look after her especially during the slide playtime. It was a very hot afternoon and I was sooooo tempted to go into the water. Arrghh! By lunch time, everybody was tired and hungry. We got the kids out of the pool and started to wash up.

Lunch was at the Chinese restaurant which is spacious, with a nice view, and the food was yummy too. Pauline had prepared the kid's porridge and Celest was happily tucking in. I managed to keep her on her high-chair for a long time. Haha. Of course with the help of food lah to keep her down. She ate so much during lunch that I was worried that her stomach will burst.

After lunch, we retired to the room for rest and also to get the tots to nap. Celest was the 1st to nap as it was way past her usual nap time at childcare centre. Next, I was 'Teacher Angeline' to get Shannon and Kelly to sleep. Now left the two boys Aloysius and Jezoir who remained awake. The mums then sat down for a chitchat while relaxing in the comfort of the aircon room.

We left the place at around 6pm+ after all the kids woke up. It was a very long day for them and not to mention me too. At night while putting Celest to bed, I had never felt so tired and sleepy before for a long time. Think the baby was telling me to rest already....

Celest's 'boy friend'

I went to fetch Celest back home and met her teacher, Ms Chng, at the gate. Ms Chng told me that Celest liked a boy very much. Haha. As in keep calling his name.. The boy is Aiden and the teachers would call him 'den den' in short. Ms Chng said Celest like to go around calling A-den, screaming his name. Haha. Even now, i could still hear Celest mentioning A-den.

A Car Finally!

Daddy finally bought his 1st car, an used Kia Rio OPC car, after very long consideration. Since the birth of Celest, there were many times when the idea of buying a car popped up but we often ended up against buying it. We were concerns of the additional costs caused by owning a car. At least without this burden, we need not watch much of our spendings. With car, we need to watch our spending carefully but at the same time, we can start going to inaccessible locations, such as beaches/parks/places, where daddy is reluctant to go without a car.

Now that we got a car, the next thing is to get a car seat and start to train Celest to sit on it. In her past car rides, she would be climbing all over the car which is dangerous. I always envy Patsy as Perle can sit in a car seat with no fuss and even dozed off to sleep when the car is moving.
Perle had been using a car seat since she was born. Hopfully Celest would adapt to being strapped up in a car seat. Nevertheless, it must be successful as I need to move her to the front passenger seat so that her 'Mei Mei''s car seat can be placed behind. I don't think there is much room for me to sit in between the two car seats.

We just came back from Robinson Centerpoint and bought a Nania car seat for $109. Training for Celest will commence shortly. Haha. Meanwhile, will keep a lookout for a better car seat promotion for baby as price is linked to quality. I don't really wish to buy a cheap model that meet the basic criteria but quality is lacking. There were few instances when after buying a 'cheaper' item, we had to repurchase a new better quality ones but more expensive lor.

Naomi House

@ Naomi's House Pool

Naomi's House

The mummies were eating behind! Haha
In the pool.

Naomi had graciously opened up her house for us to visit and have fun. It was in Telok Kurau area. I allowed Celest skip her childcare session for that day partly due to the recent spate of HFMD at her school.
I waited for Celest to wake up before going down. We were the 2nd family to arrive while Dal came in 1st. I brought along some durian puffs and chocolate eclairs from LE. Shortly, Dor & Lynn came with their troops. The cabbage kueh bought by Naomi was very nice. Yummy! The kids played around while the adults were ermmm indulging in foooood. Haha.
We went down to the pool for some fun. Celest was happily shouting away when she saw the pool. It's been a very long long time since I last brought her to pool. Hmm, maybe since last year 7th month? All the kids had an enjoyable time inside and I had a hard time (as usual) getting Celest out of pool.
Naomi was very nice to offer to bathe the three girls. It was a very nice gathering and hopefully we will have more of such gatherings.

Handicraft For Mother's Day

As usual, I went to fetch Celest from her childcare. Upon entering the centre, I noticed each child had a photo frame in their hands. I met the teacher and she handed Celest's work to me. Inside the photo frame is a piece of paper of a flower drawing. The teacher told me that the flowers were made up of their thumbprints. :) It was the 1st piece of craft that Celest had brought home.

A Bad Bump!

We were at Marina Square when Celest ran and accidentally tripped herself. Because of the trip, left side of her head hit the metal railing. I wasn't quite sure what really happened as it happened quite fast. The other possible scenario could be she dropped her balloon and in her bid to "recapture" the balloon, she ran into the railing without seeing it. Tension were rather high and Celest was crying. A red linear mark slowly appeared on her face with a bump. I can only pray hard that she didn't hurt her eye/ear in the process. :( A small bruise subsequently appeared.

Looking At The Bungy Ride

2nd May 2008, daddy is not working and we brought Celest to Childcare together after a long period of absence due to sickness. I'm worried that she will not be willing to go to childcare especially after being absent from the school for so long.

We arrived at the childcare centre at around 9.30 am and Ms Hong was there to receive Celest. Celest was abit reluctant at first but phew, she followed Ms Hong into the centre quietly. Both daddy and myself then went for breakfast at nearby MacDonald's outlet, located at Chinatown Point.

I was praying hard that I would not receive any call from the school. It was quite 'stressful' for me until 12pm+ which is her lunch time. It should be safe by now and I was very happy. We went back to fetch her at 6pm+. I hid at one corner while daddy went to fetch Celest "alone". Celest cried abit when seeing daddy alone but it wasn't tears of disappointment but joy instead. Haha. Think she was too excited.

We then went to Clarke Quay for a walk along the river. We had dinner @ Manhattan Fish Market located within Central Mall. I ordered a Fish & Chips meal for Celest but it was more of for me. She was busy helping herself to the fries on the table while i was busy feeding her with buttered rice at the same time. To refrain her from eating too much fries, we "helped" to eat the fries as much as possible, at the same time scooping some away to a side plate where she couldn't reach.

Guess what's her response was? She also tried to snatch as much fries and put them in front of her. Haiz! This girl really has bad table manners. She likes to stand on the chair during meal time and climb onto the table to get the food she wants. She has little patience in waiting for the food she wanted.

By the time we finished our dinner, the time was late and scenery has changed. There were lights everywhere and this kept Celest occupied. She was busy looking around and then she spotted the bungy ride. After which, she used her fingers to point up and down and saying 'poin poin'. Haha
